Time: Full Moon between 21st of December and 19th of January
Tree: Birch (Betula)
Ogham: Beth
Polarity: The Goddess
Themes: Purification, cleansing, a new beginning
When the Full Moon of the Longest Night appears in the sky, the darkest time of the year is already behind us. The light that returned with the Winter Solstice is being confirmed once more by this Full Moon. In the old times, it might very well have been this moon that commemorated the return of the sun for many who lived closely connected to the land. The Winter Solstice promises us that the night won't grow longer, but it is at least another 6 months before the power of the sun is back at its height. This first full moon reminds us that summer will return, despite the harvest being long ahead of us.
The birch, connected to this moon, symbolizes that very first beginning. It is not directly connected to growth, but with cleansing and regeneration. Nature is still at rest. What has died in Autumn will serve as the building bricks for this coming season and all that is sick or weak will die off. The birch also represents the power of persevering through harsh winters. Did you know the birches usually won't grow older than 150 years, but in colder climates they can grow to a respectable 200 to 300 years old!
In the Northern traditions the birch is connected to either Frigg and/or Freya. The Goddess Byarka (yes coming from birch) also represents Mother Earth. The same counts for the Goddess Perchta. The Goddess known for fertilizing the new fields, associated with the 12 days after Midwinter.
Protection and cleansing play a big role at this time of the year. It's the perfect moment to put things in order and think about the essence of what is noticeable in your life. That which isn't important, doesn't grow or yield results; should be left behind, so new plans can have a way to succeed. What is it you wish to leave behind, or needs to change for you to develop something new?

Additional information:

What can you expect?
A welcoming atmosphere where we as women can work undisturbed with what comes to the surface. I facilitate circles and initiatives, working with the sacred feminine. Which means: feeling stronger and more confident in our own bodies, trusting our intuition, breaking through our own insecurities, self realized hurtful dogmas and generally create a safe space to work together with other women.
Why can men not attend?
A better way to facilitate mens needs would be through a man being able to hold these spaces. At this moment we are not able to offer this, but will update if this changes at a later time.
What about if you identify as trans/non-binary?
We advice you to check in with the themes being held during the Full Moon and ask yourself if this is something you can work with from a Sacred Feminine perspective. If the themes presented spark something within you and you feel called, you are most welcome. Just know that some of the themes might not totally apply to you. When in doubt, send us a message!
Is there a cost to attend?
In these economic times I find it more important to create community than to make a living of creating said community. I will therefor offer a donation based service. Attendance is free, registration required, but you can donate to Siren Enchantments so I can continue offerings. Donating is not mandatory!
How big are the groups?
Groups are at max. 8 attendees, this includes the facilitator.
Feel free to contact us for more information! This form will not register you for any promotions or newsletters. We'll get back to you as soon as possible!
