A little bit of history

The Autumn Equinox.

What is Mabon?

Although the official Autumn Equinox in 2025 falls on the 22nd of September, we will celebrate this feast at Siren Enchantments on the 20th, the day after my concert at Domkirkeodden.

Mabon stems from the pre-christian religions and with this, specifically the Celts! It's the second of the 3 harvest festivals, the first one being Lughnasadh (celebrated on the 2nd of August this year and Samhain which is at the 31st of October and is also known as the Celtic New Year).

Myths about loss and renewal (for example; the story of the Greek Goddess Demeter and her daughter Persephone) are at the heart of this time of the year, the balance between light and dark, life and death and the ongoing cycle of the seasons.

It represents a time of balance, where day and night are equal, serving moments of reflection on the abundance gathered throughout the year as well as the difficulties we've faced. It is a time to express gratitude, assessing personal and spiritual growth and preparing the journey inward as the nights grow longer while we head into the darker time of the year.

Mabon signifies the transition from the vitality of summer to the more inwardness of autumn. We celebrate this time together.

Hobbits?

Let's celebrate!

Mabon x The Hobbit/LOTR

Both Fredrik and I are very fond of the works of J.R.R. Tolkien and maybe we don't live in The Shire, it sure is as idyllic as the shire! This year's Mabon celebration will therefore be themed and we'll decorate the premise accordingly.

Do you remember the celebration of Bilbo Baggins birthday in Lord of the Rings? And the dwarfs visiting him before they go on their adventure to the Lonely Mountain? Food! Music! FIREWORKS!

We wish to celebrate this harvest festival through and through and the combination is therefor more than fitting!

There will be a photographer/filming present during the day. Please let us know beforehand if you do not wish to be on camera.

Mabon in the Shire: A Harvest Feast and Frolic!

Let's celebrate together!

Good food, good company and a wonderful premise to connect!

This feast is for you who either likes the one or the other and even more if you like both!

We'll be holding a contest for everyone who is dressed up! There are no losers in this contest, everybody is a winner in their own way. We'll have some specific categories that have their own respective prices.

We are currently working on the program to make this Mabon celebration a success for all who attend. If you feel like celebrating, enjoy and/or partake in ceremony in a cosy, calm atmosphere; then this is for you!
